This jacket liner was designed to provide extra warmth for soldiers who were using the M-65 system yet was designed to function as a stand alone jacket. What this means is that should you not own an M-65 jacket you can still use this liner either by wearing it like a stand alone jacket or use it as a base layer under your current favorite jacket.
